England Coast Path: Foreshore Footpath to Be Improved in 2025

Bolton-le-Sands is set to benefit from national investment in the King Charles III England Coast Path (KCIIIECP), a project to improve access to England’s coastline and create the world’s longest managed coastal walking route.

One of the sections identified for enhancement is a Public Right of Way (FP0106002) which runs along the foreshore between the bottom of St Michael’s Lane and Mill Lane. This route, already a well-trodden local path, is scheduled for formal upgrades as part of the new Cleveleys to Silverdale stretch of the national trail. Work is expected to begin in summer 2025.

The boarded section of the path has been identified for improvement as part of the coastal path scheme. These works are intended to enhance safety, accessibility, and long-term use of this well-used local route.

What is the England Coast Path?
The King Charles III England Coast Path is a national initiative led by Natural England to open up new rights of way around the entire English coastline. Once completed, it will stretch over 2,700 miles, enhancing public access, boosting local economies, and connecting coastal communities.
