Bolton-le-Sands is a beautiful village with a wealth of walking routes to explore. From peaceful canal paths and coastal views to woodland trails and heritage landmarks, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors right on our doorstep.

Ancliffe Lane, Slyne, Hest Bank
Embark on a delightful walk around Bolton-le-Sands, along Ancliffe Lane, to Bottomdale Road, through Slyne with Hest Bank, and back along Lancaster Canal.

Thwaite Brow to Carnforth Coke Ovens
A popular local woodland walk with a peaceful circular route. In spring, the woods are filled with bluebells and birdsong. Suitable for families, with some uneven paths.

Public Rights of Way
Public Rights of Way (PROWs) are paths that the public has a legal right to use. They include footpaths, bridleways and byways, and are an important part of our local heritage and access to the countryside.

Accessibility & Family-Friendly Routes
- Thwaite Brow Woods and Monkswell Lane Circular have some uneven or muddy sections, so best for sturdy shoes.
- The canal path and foreshore walk are suitable for buggies and mobility aids in dry conditions.
- Benches are available along the canal and foreshore.
