Tennis Courts Resurfacing – Coming June 2025. Brand new surface, affordable memberships, and free taster sessions.

We’re pleased to share that the tennis courts in Bolton-le-Sands will soon receive a much-needed upgrade. Thanks to a joint investment by Bolton-le-Sands Tennis Club and Parish Council, the courts will be resurfaced in June 2025, with work expected to take around a week to complete.

This upgrade will restore the playing surface to a safe, high-quality condition and help ensure that residents of all ages can continue to enjoy the courts. The resurfacing reflects a shared commitment to keeping the courts in good condition and accessible to the broader community.

To give residents a preview of the transformation, above are photos of Endmoor Tennis Club in Kendal, which underwent the same resurfacing treatment. The new surface offers a bright, modern finish and excellent playing conditions, helping extend the life of the courts while improving the overall playing experience.

We’re excited to bring this improvement to Bolton-le-Sands and believe the upgrade will make the courts more attractive and accessible for players of all levels.

A New Access Model to Support the Courts
To help protect the upgraded surface and support the long-term upkeep of the facility, the Tennis Club is introducing a membership-based access model. Memberships are open to all and designed to remain affordable and inclusive:

  • Full Membership: £55/year (per person)
Offers unrestricted play, access to team matches, club sessions (Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons), and use of the clubhouse.
  • Young Person Full Membership: £20/year (per person)
    Designed for junior players.
  • Social Membership: £15/year (per person)
For casual daytime use outside of match times. Ideal for individuals looking to play socially during the day.
  • Family Social Membership: £20/year (per household) (proposed)
A cost-effective option for families. Allows supervised play during the day for parents and children together, without needing separate memberships.

A combination lock will be installed on the court gate. The Tennis Club will provide the code to registered members and update it regularly to ensure fair use. Members will receive updates via their registered email or mobile number.

Encouraging Participation
To support wider community access and encourage new players, the Tennis Club plans to offer free drop-in sessions and taster events throughout the year, promoted locally and online. The Club is also in discussions with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) about introducing an online booking system and potentially an electronic gate system via the LTA’s Clubspark platform.

In the meantime, details about court availability, how to join, and how to book will be displayed by the Tennis Club at the courts. Full contact information will be available on signage and on the Parish Council website.

Community Collaboration
The Parish Council welcomes this continued partnership with Bolton-le-Sands Tennis Club and fully supports their efforts to maintain, improve, and promote the courts as a valuable local asset.

Residents with questions or feedback are encouraged to contact the Tennis Club via their Facebook page.

Alternatively you can email us at community@boltonlesandsparish.gov.uk, or attend the next regular Parish Council meeting on Monday 7th July, where the topic will be discussed.
