Thank you to everyone who attended the Joint Parish Council Public Consultation Meeting on Tuesday 29 July 2025, held at Bolton-le-Sands Community Centre.

The meeting was called to discuss Planning Application 25/00805/OUT, which proposes up to 200 new homes on Green Belt land west of Slyne Road between Bolton-le-Sands and Slyne-with-Hest.

With well over 200 residents in attendance, the venue quickly reached capacity. To accommodate as many people as possible, the session was run twice. Despite this, we know some residents were still unable to enter, and we sincerely apologise.

Key themes raised by residents included:

  • Safety concerns due to increased traffic and limited road infrastructure

  • Lack of capacity in local schools and GP surgeries

  • Flooding and drainage risks

  • Loss of habitat and Green Belt protection

  • Strain on utilities such as energy and water infrastructure

The meeting was chaired by Tracy Bell, Chair of Bolton-le-Sands Parish Council, who thanked attendees and explained that feedback from residents will inform the formal responses from both Parish Councils to Lancaster City Council.

If you were unable to attend, you can still submit a comment quoting reference 25/00805/OUT:

A local group, Friends of Lapwing Fields, has been formed to coordinate opposition. Donations to support their legal challenge are welcome:
